PRINCIPLES OF DESCRIBING THE AESTHETIC CHARACTERISTICS OF NATURAL LANDSCAPES

The possibilities of quantitative assessment of aesthetic services of natural landscape in forests and parks are considered. An attempt to «weigh» the quality of aesthetic services and aesthetic properties of different landscapes is discussed. It is assumed that aesthetic characteristics of forest areas and parks are formed in the same ways as the characteristics of painting, and especially landscape painting. In this regard, objects of landscape painting are considered from an artistic point of view and for their quantitative assessment the possibility of quantitative assessment of paintings by famous artists is considered. To describe the color and brightness of works of art as a set of pixels of different colors and brightness, it is proposed to consider rank distributions by the color and brightness of these objects. It is shown that paintings of outstanding artists are characterized by rank distributions in the form of the Zipf-Pareto and Mandelbrot equations. By analogy with works of art, photographs of landscapes in the Altai Nature Reserve are considered. It is shown that all landscapes can be classified by the characteristics of the Zipf-Pareto rank distributions. The proposed approach allows one to approach the assessment of the aesthetic characteristics of landscapes.
