The research was conducted in the middle taiga subzone. Forest edges, as transitional areas between clearcuts and maturing forests, were additionally investigated. On 19 sample plots, the measurements of illumination and photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) were carried out, bilberry projective cover was assessed, and the maximum shoot height was measured. The content of photosynthetic pigments in bilberry leaves was determined. The illumination and PAR levels, measured in clear and cloudy weather, decreased along the gradient: clearcut \u2013 forest edge \u2013 forest community. The lowest projective cover and shoot height of the dwarf shrub were recorded on the clearcut and forest edge, while the highest values were found under the forest canopy.
